Marquette holds off upset-minded South Florida

The game wasn't supposed to be that close, but the 17th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles held on for a 62-54 win over South Florida in men's college basketball action. 

Lazar Hayward scored a career-high 23 points, and Wes Matthews added 16 points (including four 3-pointers) in the win.

The Bulls limited the Golden Eagles' leading scorer, Dominic James to three points in 19 minutes and held Jerel McNeal to six points.

Marquette was outrebounded 39-32 and has been outrebounded in its last seven games.
