Marquette opens Big East play with win

January 4, 2008 By WRN Contributor

After starting Big East play slow last season, the Marquette Golden Eagles jumped all over Providence and rolled to a 96-67 win over the Friars in their league opener last night at the Bradley Center.

Junior guard Dominic James scored a game high 21, leading four Golden Eagles in double figures in the win.

Marquette (11-1, 1-0) shot 53% from the field and out-rebounded the Friars 37-23.  It's the 7th straight win for the Golden Eagles.

Marquette hits the road to face West Virginia in Morgantown on Sunday.
