Tavern League: smoking ban won't pass

January 22, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Proponents of a statewide smoking ban are taking a "hard line approach" and  refusing  to consider any compromises. That's the claim of Wisconsin Tavern League lobbyist Scott Stenger. "The other side has this 'take my ball and go home' attitude," says Stenger. "In this building, that doesn't work." A smoking ban bill has been endorsed by the Senate Health Committee, but no further action has been scheduled. Stenger says he's confident the ban won't pass this legislative session, with lawmakers scheduled to adjourn in the Spring.
