Trial moved for deputy's killer

January 29, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The accused killer of a Kenosha Sheriff's deputy gets his trial relocated. Judge Wilbur W. Warren III issued an order Monday moving the trial for Ezequiel Lopez-Quintero from Kenosha County to Racine County, ruling that news coverage of Deputy Frank Fabiano's killing in Kenosha County would make it more difficult to find a jury that would not be prejudiced against the defendant. The 45 year-old Lopez-Quintero faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon, in the shooting death of Deputy Frank Fabiano during a May 16th traffic stop. Lopez-Quintero's attorney said he may contest the judge's order, maintaining that residents in the neighboring county have also seen and heard news about the shooting death.
