Wedding vows compete with Packers

January 12, 2008 By WRN Contributor

While most of the state is thrilled that the Packers are playing in mid-January at least one couple wishes Saturday's playoff game at Lambeau Field could have been postponed by a day. Katie Krell of Kaukauna, and her fiance Mike Hartjes are getting married Saturday, with their ceremony set to start the same time the Packers will be kick off their game against Seattle. Krell says they didn't plan to compete with the Green and Gold: they picked the date in order to secure the banquet hall where the wedding takes place. "We had no idea it would be Packer playoff game," says Krell. "We're working around it." Televisions will be on so people can watch the Packer game while Krell and Hartjes exchange vows. No green and gold bridesmaids dresses though: Krell says the wedding will not have a Packer theme.
