Brewers Open Up Cactus League Today

February 28, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers open up Cactus League play today as they take on Oakland in Phoenix.  Ned Yost will send Claudio Vargas to the hill for Milwaukee.  The A's will go with Joe Blanton.  The Brewers played the 2nd of 2 intrasquad cames on Wednesday as one last tune-up for the Spring Traing Schedule.  Prince Fielder was the star of the day with a 2-run double and 3 RBI.

Milwaukee made a few roster moves on Wednesday.  Pitche Carlos Villanueva signed a one-year deal, while right hander Mark DiFelice was sent to the minor league camp.

Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun could be in your mailbox today.  Braun and other young Major Leaguers are on the cover of this week's edition of Sports Illustrated as they preview the 2008 season.
