Coping with "superstorm"

As weather conditions worsened Wednesday, it became apparent an extra effort was needed to deal with developing problems along a snowbound, 50 mile stretch of I-90. Governor Jim Doyle declared a state of emergency in Dane and Rock counties, opening the way for additional resources. A joint command center was opened, staffed by the Dane and Rock County Sheriffs departments and the Wisconsin State Patrol. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin National Guard also provided assistance.
