Marquette swept by Louisville in Big East play

February 5, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Louisville Cardinals beat 16th ranked Marquette for the second time this season, rolling to a 71-57 win over the Golden Eagles at the Bradley Center on Monday night.

Marquette shot just 32% from the field and watched their 14-game home court win streak come to an end.  The Cardinals were the last team to beat Marquette at the Bradley Center, and that came last season.

Edgar Sosa scored 18 points and Jerry Smith added 12 for Louisville.  Wesley Matthews had 15 and Jerel McNeal 11 to lead Marquette (16-5, 6-4 Big East).

Louisville improved to 17-6 overall, 7-3 in the Big East.
