Protecting against a silent killer

February 27, 2008 By WRN Contributor

State lawmakers are urged to act on a silent killer, by approving legislation that requires apartment buildings and hotels to be equipped with carbon monoxide alarms.

Oregon Fire Captain Tony Antoniewicz says the devices are life savers, capable of preventing the over 2,000 deaths each year caused by CO poisoning.

The bill is currently being considered by a legislative committee. Eight other states have similar laws already have similar laws in place.
