A state lawmaker is defending a plan to make English Wisconsin's official language.
Critics say the legislation is aimed at Hispanics and amounts to bigotry. However, State Representative Mark Honadel (R-South Milwaukee) says that's not the case. He says the bill was introduced without any malice against anybody.
Honadel says America is losing its identity, and making English the official state language would help restore that. He points out that similar laws are on the books in 20 other states.
