UW continues pursuit of protecting their "Motion W"

February 5, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Motion W The University of Wisconsin is suing Division 2 Washburn University for its use of the Badgers trademarked Motion "W".  Wisconsin's suit seeks an injunction barring Washburn from using the mark.

UW has taken an aggressive stance against schools using a version of the Motion "W" Logo.  According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel , the school has been involved in about 30 cases involving high schools around the country.  This is believed to be the first University that the UW has sued.
