A fitness challenge for Wisconsin

March 28, 2008 By WRN Contributor

With rising obesity rates a concern nationwide, Governor Jim Doyle is urging Wisconsin residents to sign up for a program that encourages more physical activity. The Governor's challenge is part of the National President's Challenge. Those who sign up are asked to keep tabs for a six week period on activities ranging from exercise to gardening.

The challenge is open to adults and children, but schools that get involved could see an extra benefit. The Trek Bicycle Corporation has pledged to donate a bike to any school that has 25 children sign-up and finish the challenge. The bikes will be raffled off to students who complete the program.

Over 3,000 Wisconsin residents have already signed up for the challenge. The deadline to register is April 3rd.
