Badger women start play in Big Ten Tournament today

March 6, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Wisconsin Badger women face Illinois in the opening round of the Big Ten women's basketball tournament in Indianapolis later today.

The Badgers and the Illini will tip it off at 4pm today.  Wisconsin is the 8th seed, but has played much better of late, winning 8 of their last 11 Big Ten games.

The Badgers will need to win the Big Ten title to gain a spot in the NCAA Tournament field.  But history won't be on their side.  Since the Big Ten Tournament began in 1995, the lowest-seeded team to win the title was No. 5 Indiana in 2002.
