Badger women's hockey team opens NCAA play at Minnesota

The No 5 Wisconsin women's hockey team will open the NCAA tournament at No. 4 Minnesota on Saturday (March 15, 7pm). 

The Badgers enter the tournament with an overall record of 27-8-4 and fresh off a 5-4 loss in a thrilling WCHA Final Face-Off Championship game.  Wisconsin reached the title game of the WCHA playoffs by defeating Minnesota 4-3 in the semifinals.

UW was 3-1-1 against the Gophers this season, including a win and a tie at Ridder Arena Feb. 23-24.  Wisconsin is currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak against the Gophers in Minnesota (9-0-1), including a 7-game unbeaten streak at Ridder Arena (6-0-1).

Quarterfinal winners advance to the 2008 Frozen Four March 20 and 22 in Duluth, Minnesota.
