The governor signs compassionate care legislation.
The new law requires hospitals to provide rape victims with information about emergency contraceptives, such as the morning after pill, and to make the drugs available if requested.
Governor Jim Doyle says the Health Department will monitor hospitals for compliance and follow up on complaints about violations. Rape victim Linda Gage gave an emotional thank you to the lawmakers who fought for this legislation and to the governor who signed it into law.
