Federal money will help with the costs of a massive snowstorm this winter. The major snowstorm struck southeastern Wisconsin February 5th & 6th, stranding hundreds of motorists on the interstate and racking up big bills for county and local governments. Dane County executive Kathleen Falk says the money from FEMA is welcome. County plow crews worked overtime, along with emergency management and sheriff's department personnel.
Falk says the federal money will go back into the county's general fund and provide taxpayers a break. Also eligible for federal relief are Dodge, Green, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Rock, Walworth, and Washington Counties. The governor's office says FEMA will provide reimbursement to local and state agencies for seventy five percent of total eligible costs.
