If Governor Doyle decides not to run for re-election in 2010, his Lieutenant Governor says she would run for the state's top office.
Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton is currently serving her second term in that office. She says a run for Governor would allow her to take what she's learned to the "next level."
Governor Doyle has not yet announced if he'll seek a third term in office. Lawton says it's a very important decision that should not be rushed. However, if the opportunity to run presents itself, Lawton says she would be honored to lead the state.
Lawton says she's in the early stages of preparing for a possible run.
