Green Bay's season ends in WNIT's opening round

March 22, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Green Bay women's basketball team could not hold on to a nine-point second-half lead Saturday afternoon as the Phoenix lost to Drake 65-56 in the opening round of the WNIT tournament.

The loss ends Green Bay's season at 26-6.

Lavesa Glover scored a game high 23 for the Phoenix as she scored 12 of the team's first 14 points to start the second half.  But the Phoenix cooled down and scored just 11 points over the final 12:44 of the game.

Drake (23-10), who will advance to face Illinois in the WNIT second round, was led by Lindsay Whorton's 18 points.
