Hockey Badgers drop WCHA playoff opener

March 15, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Jase Weslosky stopped 24 shots as St. Cloud State beat the Wisconsin Badgers 3-0 in the first game of their best-of-three first-round WCHA playoff series.

The Huskies converted on 2 of 6 power-play opportunities.  The Badgers were
0-for-3.

It's the Huskies second straight win over the Badgers after snapping a 14-game winless streak against Wisconsin in their last regular-season matchup.

The Badgers need to win game two tonight to force a deciding third game in the series on Sunday.  The series winner advances to the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul next weekend.
