No ban on texting behind the wheel

March 15, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Wisconsin motorists can keep on texting.

The state Senate approved a ban on using cell phones to send text messages while driving, but the Assembly failed to act on the measure before adjourning this week. That essentially leaves the bill dead for this year.

State Senator Alan Lasee (R-De Pere), the author, is disappointed about the lack of action on the measure. He says it's a dangerous practice that needs to be stopped.

Lasee says he caught a lot of flak from his grandkids for introducing the bill, but he says it's an issue of public safety.
