Obey has challenger

March 21, 2008 By WRN Contributor

A Wisconsin farmer will try to unseat Congressman Dave Obey this fall. Dan Mielke says he chose to run against Obey because of the Wausau Democrat's voting record allowing illegal immigrants to remain in the U-S unlawfully. Mielke also says Obey no longer represents the 7th Congressional District. Mielke  says he understands the odds in running against the longtime congressman. Obey , who won a special election in 1969 and has been reelected to Congress every term since then, indicated Tuesday that he will also run for another term, though he won't make a final decision until closer to the filing deadline this summer.
