The state Senate has passed legislation ending pay for fired Milwaukee police officers. Milwaukee Democrat, state Sen. Spencer Coggs, said a weight has been lifted off the city's taxpayers, who've paid millions over the years to officers who've been fired for a variety of offenses. The legislation was strongly opposed by the Milwaukee police union. Coggs noted no other police officers have had this kind of benefit. The bill has already passed the state Assembly, and now goes to Governor Jim Doyle for his signature.
