Three Phoenix men earn Horizon League honors

March 4, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Three Green Bay men's basketball players earned postseason awards from the Horizon League based on balloting from the league's coaches, sports information directors and selected media members.  Mike Schachtner was named Second team All-League, Terry Evans was voted the Defensive Player of the Year, while Rahmon Fletcher earned a spot on the All-Newcomer squad.

Evans, a junior, was also named to the All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season and is the first-ever recipient of the Defensive Player of the Year award.  He is the school's all-time blocked shot leader (113) and ranks second in school history in steals (169).  Evans currently ranks among the league's leaders in steals (2nd), blocked shots (3rd) and rebounds (5th).

The Horizon League post season tournament begins tonight.  Green Bay opens up on the road at Valparaiso .  UW-Milwaukee plays it's first game at home against Loyolla.
