Investigators in Monroe have ruled a house fire on Easter morning that killed a 37-year-old man was caused by arson.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement of the home. Jeffrey Sullivan died in the blaze while rescuing his 16-year-old daughter from her bedroom, which was in the basement.
Police have also identified a suspect in the case, a 16-year-old girl from Monroe. However, they are not saying if the suspect is Sullivan's daughter. Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelly says they only identify the age, gender, and city of residence of the suspect when referring charges to prosecutors.
The Sullivan girl was injured in the fire and was hospitalized. Her mother and two brothers escaped the home safely.
