Giants finish first round

April 26, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The New York Giants wrapped up the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by selecting Miami safety Kenny Phillips.

The first round featured a total of 8 trades, including the Packers trade with the New York Jets.

Miami started the 2nd round by selecting Clemson DE Phillip Merling.

The 2nd round is now moving 7 minutes in between picks.  The new speed up rules in the first round worked.  The first round was wrapped up in roughly 3 1/2 hours.  Last year under the old format, the first round was over six hours.
