Gumbel out as play by play man for NFL Network

April 11, 2008 By WRN Contributor

If you weren't a fan of Bryan Gumbel as the NFL Network's play-by-play man, then you're in luck.

After two seasons as the NFL Network's play-by-play voice, he's stepping down.  The NFL Network is now looking for a replacement to work with Cris Collinsworth on the network's Thursday and Saturday night games.

In a statement issued today (Friday), Gumbel said, "I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to call NFL Network games the past two years, which was a new experience for me.  But we've agreed that we'd all be better served going in different directions."
