Packers to retire Favre's No. 4 at season opener

Brett Favre The Green Bay Packers will retire Brett Favre's No. 4 at the team's season opener, Monday night, Sept. 8, vs. the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

Favre's No. 4 will become the sixth number retired by the the storied franchise. 

The other five are the No. 14 of wide receiver Don Hutson, No. 3 of fullb ack Tony Canadeo, No. 15 of Quarterback Bart Starr, No. 66 of linebacker Ray Nitschke and the No. 92 worn by defensive end Reggie White.

All five bearers of the previously retired numbers are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Favre is a shoe-in for the honor when he becomes eligible.
