Twin babies dead; father in custody

April 15, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Infant twins only 5 weeks old were found dead in Baraboo on Sunday.  Baraboo Police Lt. Rob Sinden says the father, 45 year old David Yates, was taken into custody on a probation hold.  They were called to his Lake street home Sunday night on a check welfare call.  Initially, Sinden says Yates did not answer the door, so police went in and found him in bed.  During a subsequent search, they found the dead infants, Tyler and Savannah.

“I don’t think I’ve seen kids over there. Just maybe guys shoveling his driveway in the winter time,” said neighbor Matt Padley.

Lt. Sinden says the mother does not reside in the home and is aware of the death of children. He claims she the father had custody of the kids.

Yates has multiple convictions of drunken driving, disorderly conduct and domestic abuse.
