Wintery blast up north

April 10, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The calendar says it's Spring, but communities across northern Wisconsin are bracing for severe Winter weather. The National Weather Service in Duluth has included Superior and Douglas County in a blizzard warning, and much of the rest of northern Wisconsin is under a Winter storm warning through Saturday morning. Snowfall amounts are expected to range from 10 to 14 inches in the Duluth Superior area, to 8 to 14 inches in northwestern Wisconsin (Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties), where rain or sleet is expected to mix with the snow at times. In addition to the heavy snowfall amounts, high winds with gusts up to 35 miles an hour are forecast, making for limited visibility and hazardous travel conditions.
