Wisconsin's Freitag to retire from coaching

April 15, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Donna Freitag Wisconsin women's basketball assistant coach, Donna Freitag, will retire from coaching effective at the end of her contract (May 31, 2008).

The Oregon, Wisconsin native, Freitag, was a former teammate of Badger coach Lisa Stone at both Oregon High School and the University of Iowa.  She's planning to pursue other professional interests.

Freitag has coached for 22 years, the last 8 with Stone.  As an assistant at Wisconsin (1986-1994), Freitag was an integral part of a rebuilding process that turned a struggling Badger program into a nationally recognized team.
