Lawmaker sees more budget games

May 12, 2008 By WRN Contributor

State Rep. Steve Nass slams a budget deal, which the Whitewater Republican says is "just more fiscal games." Nass says the scheme from Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker and Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch to close the $527 million dollar hole in the current state budget fails to address the real problem — state government spends more than it can afford. His advice, cut spending: "get a backbone, quite frankly." The Whitewater Republican is highly critical of a budget deficit fix which he says is at best a short term solution to the state's underlying fiscal problems. "Any legislator that supports this kind of budget malfeasance is guilty of political fraud on the taxpayers of this state," says Nass.
