McCain on high gas and energy

May 30, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) led off his town hall addressing the high fuel prices, saying that he favored the elimination of the federal gas tax during the summer to ease the burden on consumers. He adds the long term solution to the problem is alternative energy such as wind, solar and tide. McCain is also a strong supporter of nuclear power.

The GOP presidential nominee to be says the nation is too dependent on oil from foreign regimes that are unfriendly to the US. As far as further domestic oil exploration, he says it should be whichever state houses the potential energy reserve.  McCain says he would like to create incentives for states to harness their energy but it's wrong for the federal government to trump states rights on this issue.
