Mothers Day is Sunday, so cut mom some slack. She needs it now more than ever, according to parenting expert Erin Thornley Parisi, who says Moms today are faced with a lot more pressures than even their own mothers were. Parisi says there are other stressors on Moms today — inadequate or no health care coverage, rising costs, and trying to give their all to their children and their employers. Parisi is executive director of Canopy Center , formerly the Wisconsin Parental Stress Center. She says today's Moms are constantly faced with feelings of inadequacy, trying to give equal time to kids, homes, and jobs. Plus, Parisi says kids these days are bombarded with influences that just weren't around in years gone by.
