Red Cross can help cyclone victims

May 8, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Here's how to help Myanmar. Jane Richardson with the American Red Cross Badger Chapter in Madison says the best way to help is by making a monetary donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund , which channels donations to international disasters such as the cyclone in Myanamar, which may have killed as many as 100,000 people. You can also direct the donation to your local chapter .

There are media reports that the military government of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, has been slow to allow entry relief agencies. But Richardson the Red Cross is already on the ground: there are 18,000 members of the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Society in Myanmar, in the best position to assess what the needs are there.
