WIAA State Boys Tennis Meet Begins Today

The WIAA Boys State Tennis Meet begins today in Madison with first round matchups at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin.

In Division One Singles, Milwaukee Marquette junior Billy Bertha is the top seed.  His teammate, Nelson Vick is the defending state champ and is 20-0 heading into first round matches today.  Sophomore Drew Lied of Brookfield East is the 3rd seed.

In Division One Doubles, Seniors Bobby Spector and Justin Bacher of Nicolet are the top seed and sport a 23-1 record.  Spector was half of a team that finished 3rd last year at State.  Seniors Sam Bauwens and Cory Degner of Brookfield Central are the #2 seed in the bracket.

In the D2 Singles bracket, Senior Michael Koval of Green Bay Notre Dame is the #1 while the D2 Doubles bracket has junior Ryan Stewart and freshman Sam Walker from Milwaukee University School as the top seed.

The championship matches are scheduled for Saturday.
