Without best stuff, Sheets goes the distance and beats Pirates

May 22, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Ben Sheets went a long way to save the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen last night by going the distance and beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 at PNC Park.

Sheets didn't have his good stuff last night and the 11 hits he allowed would show that.  But once in trouble, Sheets buckled down and got out of some jams to give the Brewers their second straight win in Pittsburgh.

Sheets did himself a favor by walking nobody.  His only blemish was Xavier Nady's home run in the fourth inning.

Ricky Weeks homered and scored a pair of runs for the Brewers, who moved into fourth place in the NL Central, in front of both Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

Milwaukee goes for the sweep tonight.  Dave Bush gets the start for Milwaukee.
