Beloit fares well in flood

June 19, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Beloit city officials are warning residents against playing in puddles of flood water. "At the same time, we want to reassure citizens that our public water supply is safe," says Assistant city manager Steve Gregg. Beloit's total cost incurred from the flood Rock River is approximately $331,000 for both public and private properties. Janesville 's damage estimate is much higher — around $38.7 million. Gregg says buildings along the Rock River appear to be safe, and there are no homes under water within the city of Beloit , although some residential basements are flooded.
