Bucks Make Trade

June 27, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Bucks made a draft day deal on Thursday.  GM John Hammond sends forwards Bobby Simmons and Yi Jianlian to the New Jersey Nets for veteran forward Richard Jefferson.

The Bucks give up last year's 6th overall pick and clear Simmons contract that has two years and $20 million dollars off their books in the deal.  In Jefferson they get a guy who averaged 23 points per game last season that will add some veteran leadership to their lockerroom.

Hammond says they didn't want to give up Yi but you have to give up talent to get talent.  Head coach Scott Skiles said he liked the deal as well.

Jefferson had three years and $42 million dollars left on his contract.
