Emergency Management working and working

June 9, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Mike Goetzman, spokesman for Wisconsin Emergency Management, says the DOT, Department of Corrections and many more state agencies are assisting in emergency management.

The American Red Cross has set up shelters in many communities in Southwest Wisconsin and a site in Racine County because of evacuated families escaping the high water. This includes locals who lived near dams that are near overflow. Vernon County is considered hardest hit from the weekend storm, causing barricaded roads. County emergency management says Highway 14 at Readsburg was shut down due to flooding.

Goetzman advises you to travel only if necessary and to consult the state DOT website for local road conditions.
