Johnson surpasses Clemens on all-time strikeout list

June 4, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Arizona pitcher Randy Johnson didn't win the game, but he still pitched well, striking out 8 Milwaukee Brewers in Arizona's 7-1 loss.

Johnson moved past Roger Clemens and into second place on the all-time strikeout list with 4,673 when he set down Milwaukee's Mike Cameron for the second out in the bottom of the first inning.  He finished with 4,680 total strikeouts.  Nolan Ryan is number one all-time with 5,714 strikeouts.

Johnson left the mound to an ovation from Milwaukee fans, which he not only appreciated, but called Brewers fans classy.

Johnson fell to 4-2 on the season and remains 12-wins shy of 300 for his career.
