Porter takes head job in Phoenix

June 10, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Terry Porter is back in the head coaching circles.  Porter was named the new head coach of the Phoenix Suns, replacing Mike D'Antoni, who took the New York Knicks head job.

Porter went 71-93 in his two seasons with the Bucks.

In other NBA coaching news, the Chicago Bulls have offered their head coaching position to Vinny Del Negro.

Del Negro has worked as the Phoenix Suns assistant general manager.  He takes a Bulls team that lost 49 games this season and missed the playoffs.

In Detroit, the Pistons will name Michael Curry their new coach today, replacing the fired Flip Saunders.  Curry played for the Bucks from 1997 to 1999.  He's agreed to a reported 3-year deal worth $2.5-million.
