Brewers Give Gibbons A Chance

The Brewers have signed veteran outfielder Jay Gibbons to a minor league contract..  The 31-year-old was named in the Mitchell Report for using performance-enhancing drugs and was cut by Baltimore last March after he struggled.  From 2001 to 2005 he hit 121 homers from the Orioles and had been playing in an Independent league this year.  He'll report to Double-A Huntsville for a few weeks and then move to Triple-A Nashville. The Orioles owe Gibbons $12 million dollars this season and next.
