Multiple deaths at Tomahawk plant explosion

The fire chief in the city of Tomahawk says an explosion at a paper mill there has resulted in multiple deaths. The explosion was reported at 1:15 Tuesday afternoon, at the PCA Tomahawk Mill on Lincoln County Road E. WJJQ in Rhinelander reports that the explosion was in a high density storage tank at the mill. The tanks are used to store recycled paper.

Representatives of PCA Tomahawk Mill stated that injuries were sustained by employees, but at this time the number of injured and the extent of injuries is not known. Those representatives are also reporting that six to eight were working in the area at the time of the incident. Tomahawk EMS and Tomahawk Fire and Rescue were on the scene.
