Obama fundraising machine comes to Madison

July 24, 2008 By WRN Contributor

While Barack Obama draws big crowds overseas, his campaign hopes to attract big money tonight at a fundraiser in Madison.

Obama continues to out do John McCain in Wisconsin and nationally when it comes to fundraising. In the Badger State, he has two million dollars on hand, three times as much as McCain.

However, UW-Madison political scientist Charles Franklin says the GOP candidate can counter the money chase. McCain has access to $81 million in federal financing, along with whatever money the Republican National Committee puts into the race. With that kind of money Franklin says McCain should be able to still put on a strong campaign here in Wisconsin.
