Brewers beat Astros 5-2, take series

August 21, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Manny Parra didn't have his good stuff, but it was good enough to earn his 10th win of the season as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Houston Astros 5-2.  Parra last won on July 20th.  He held Houston to 2 runs on six hits.

J.J. Hardy clubbed a 2-run homer in the 7th to give the Brewers some breathing room.  The Astros tried to rally in the 8th, loading the bases with nobody out, but Eric Gagne pitched out of the jam.

The Brewers gained a game in the standings on the Cubs, who lost 2-1 to Cincinnati.  Milwaukee now trails Chicago by 5-games in the Central Division and will take the day off today.  The Brewers remain home to host the Pittsburgh Pirates starting on Friday night.
