Division 3 football polls out

August 13, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Defending NCAA Division III football champion UW-Whitewater is the preseason favorite to win the 2008 WIAC football title.  The Warhawks received seven first-place votes in the league poll and look to become the first team since River Falls to claim four straight WIAC titles.

The Warhawks are ranked #2 nationally by D3Football.com and Lindy's and #3 by USA Today.  UW-Eau Claire is picked to finish 2nd, followed by UW-La Crosse and UW-Stevens Point.

Meanwhile, St. Norbert College was selected as the favorite to win its third consecutive Midwest Conference football championship in a poll of league coaches.  The Green Knights, who went 9-0 in conference play last season, received seven first-place votes.

Monmouth received three first-place votes and finished second in the coaches poll.  Ripon finished third.
