Packers start preseason minus 6 starters

August 11, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Green Bay Packers kicked off their preseason opener at Lambeau Field tonight without six starters in uniform.  Charles Woodson, Ryan Grant, Al Harris, Scott Wells, Ryan Pickett and Greg Jennings are all watching from the sidelines in street clothes.  Also not in uniform tonight are Charlie Peprah, Desmond Bishop, Orrin Thompson, Justin Harrell, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Johnny Jolly.

The Packers won the coin flip and received to start the game.  The Packers went three plays and a penalty out.  Aaron Rodgers threw a nice pass that would have gone for a first down, but Donald Driver dropped the pass.

The Packers second possession ended in a turnover.  Aaron Rodgers completed to passes on a drive that started at the Green Bay 30 and ended at the Cincinnati 30 when Rodgers threw to Chris Francies.  It was a ball that appeared catchable, but went in and out of the hands of the receiver and was picked off by Dexter Jackson.  There was a small smattering of boos from the Lambeau Field crowd.

Midway through the first quarter, the Packers and the Bengals are scoreless.
