UW Hockey Assistant Bill Howard stepping down

August 22, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Bill Howard After 36 years, Wisconsin hockey Assistant and Goaltending Coach Bill Howard is stepping down from his position with the Badger men's hockey program.

The only member of all six of Wisconsin's NCAA men's hockey championships, Howard completes his time with the UW after beginning his Badger career in 1972.

Howard said, "I still have a great passion for teaching and coaching players and goalies at all age levels.  I therefore am not retiring from coaching but simply moving in a different direction. It's been a lot of fun, a great run, and has been very rewarding."

During his time at the UW, Howard has worked for only three head coaches, Bob Johnson, Jeff Sauer and Mike Eaves.
