Attacking the "homosexual lifestyle"

September 26, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The head of the Wisconsin Family Council says she's dismayed, but not surprised by the growing presence of homosexuality on TV.

This fall, there are 16 regular characters on prime-time TV who are gay or bisexual, more than double the number last year. Council Director Julaine Appling calls it an attempt by the media to "normalize that lifestyle" by showing homosexual lifestyles are ones without consequences.

In Appling's view, the "problems" associated with homosexuality include health risks, and detrimental effects on children who may be involved. In her words, "It's not the same as living a clean heterosexual life."

WIBA's John Colbert contributed this report.
