Brewers cough up late lead, fall to Mets

September 2, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers let a late lead slip away yesterday as Carlos Delgado clubbed a game winning 2-run homer on an 0-2 pitch from Eric Gagne in the 8th.  The Mets scored once more and went on to beat the Brewers 4-2 at Miller Park.

Ben Sheets left after five scoreless innings as a precautionary measure with tightness in his left groin.  He's expected to be alright.  The Mets scored all four of their runs on 7 hits and four walks after Sheets left the game.

The Brewers didn't lost any ground on the Cubs though.  They remain 4 1/2 games behind Chicago in the NL Central after the Cubs were shutout by Houston 3-0.
